Nestled in the picturesque Darling Scarp 120km north of Perth, the family farm of Kamarah is run by Errol, Annette, Brenden and Ashlee Howard. Started as a mixed farming operation of merino sheep and grain in 1980, the 1450 hectares now includes a commercial Murray Grey herd initiated in 1996, the establishment of many perennials and a 9000 place grow out piggery enterprise.
The enthusiasm shared by Tony and Sally Trainor from Gingin Speckle Park Stud of the whole performance of the Speckle Park breed, resulted in Kamarah trialling a small AI program in 2011. The growth and performance of the crossbred stock from this exercise were so impressive, the decision to embark on an embryo transfer program was easy to make.
Speckle Park is Australia’s newest breed of beef cattle. Originally, from Canada they are renowned for their quiet temperament, milking ability and meat quality.
Sourcing leading genetics in Australia and Canada, through the knowledge and expertise of Dale Humphries from Wattle Grove Speckle Park, Kamarah Speckles are embarking on an embryo and A1 program to build their herd to 80 pure female breeders.
Through teamwork, honesty and excellence, Kamarah Speckles has a strong focus on producing quality breeding stock and aspire to produce bulls that will deliver crossbred calves for the premium meat market.
